What are your rates?

Please call me to discuss current rates.  I want therapy to be accessible to many people and to that end, I do offer some sliding scale therapy slots during the week.

Do you take insurance?

At this time, I am not an in-network or preferred provider for any insurance companies.  Some policies will reimburse for a portion of psychotherapy, and if you would like, I would be happy to provide you with a monthly invoice for you to submit to your provider.  Please call your insurance carrier directly to find out whether they will reimburse you for a portion of your therapy.

What is your cancellation policy?

Plans change and cancellations happen.  If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so at least 48 hours in advance.  Sessions cancelled after that time will be charged the full fee.

How do I get started?

The first step is for you to call me to find out if I would be a good fit for you or your family.  I will ask you some questions about what has been going on for you (or your child), your past experience with therapy (if you've had any) and about your goals for treatment.  If I am familiar with the type of challenge you describe, we would schedule an initial evaluation.  Please read more about my initial evaluations for children and adults.  If I am unable to assist you, I am happy to provide referrals to other qualified therapists.

How do I know if I would benefit from therapy?

Everyone experiences some ups and downs, especially in an unfamiliar situation like a new job or change in family structure.  Even experiencing several "bad days" in a row is an inevitable part of being human.  However, when there is a change in your daily function and a symptom or relationship is making daily life difficult, therapy can be extremely beneficial.  There is no reason to feel down or anxious most of the time or to accept the belief that there are no options for improving a troubled relationship.  I can show you extremely powerful tools to regulate your mood, cope with stress, experience joy, and feel closer to the people around you.

How will I know if the therapy is beneficial?

At each and every appointment we will use a scientifically validated assessment to  your progress whether it is in regard to your anxious or depressed mood or your satisfaction with a significant relationship.  Neither one of us will ever be left wondering if the therapy is making an impact.  You would not go to a doctor for a broken leg and "hope for the best" with your healing; you would want X-rays to tell you whether your leg had completely healed.  Therapy can be equally goal-oriented and results driven.  In addition, after each session, you will fill out a brief satisfaction survey giving me feedback on my performance and alerting me to any concerns we need to address.  Research has shown the therapeutic alliance or relationship is vitally important to a successful outcome.  You and I will continually monitor how we work together to allow me to make any necessary adjustments right away.
